Zim prospects high: Korean envoy Ambassador Jaichel

The South Korean ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Cho Jaichel yesterday said Zimbabwe is poised to achieve development in the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa.

Ambassador Jaichel said this during a reception to make Republic of Korea’s National Day yesterday. “I would like to congratulate Zimbabwean people on having a new era, the Second Republic, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa,” he said. “I sincerely hope and believe that under the new dispensation, Zimbabwean people will achieve remarkable development through economic and social reforms and the re-engagement policy towards the international community. The Korean Government is willing to closely cooperate with the Zimbabwean Government to achieve its national development goal of a great Zimbabwe.”

He added that the relations between Zimbabwe and South Korea continued to grow in various spheres. “I feel happy to see the relationship between Zimbabwe and Korea deepening and expanding in politics, economy, and culture and so on. I sincerely hope that the two countries will continue to cooperate with each other in economic and business fields.

“Korea accomplished the fast economic growth in a short period of time. Korea began from ashes after the Korean war which lasted three years from 1950. During the war, buildings, houses, dams almost everything were totally destroyed. I hope the Korean experience will be helpful to Zimbabwean people and the Zimbabwean economy. We are ready to share our experience with our Zimbabwean friends,” said Ambassador Jaichel.

He said Zimbabwe had great potential not only because of its natural resources, but a skilled and friendly human resource base.

The head of protocol (conference services directorate) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Chipo Zindoga also commended the cordial bilateral ties between the two countries.
