Zimbabwe is one of the very few countries in Africa with young people who are super talented. Young Zimbabweans have, over the years, grasped the concept of expressing themselves in doing what they know best.

Tadiwa Christian Marengo is a 22-year-old Peace and Governance student at Bindura University of Science Education.

Tadiwa is a rising author of four published books and is already working on the fifth one.

“I am self motivated most of the times and that inspired me to start expressing my source of motivation through writing so that I can inspire others,” says Tadiwa

The first book published by Tadiwa is called “Yes, You Can” which focuses on different issues that affect people in their day to day and motivational tips on how they can deal with them.

Maronge moved on to write and published the second book “The Triumph Map” also filled with motivation.

“I would say one of my best publications would be the fourth one, ‘The Great Leadership Manual’, which is a guideline of how one can become an excellent leader,” he added.

Of all the publications the young man has done, he managed to sell only 14 copies of the first book, bought mostly by relatives and friends.

Marketing these publications is one of the biggest challenges young authors in Zimbabwe face hence, not earning from their work.

“I just keep promising myself that at some point, it will all work out for me, what I need to do is stay focused and not be distracted so that I continue doing what I love,” Maronge said. The young man has been working alongside Flavin Madziva, Blessing Mandevhana and Munashe Chinyowa as his publication editors.

All his works have been published by Beyond Today Publishing House.

“I also market my books on Amazon online store but I haven’t been getting much traffic,” he added

The young creative minds really need to be embraced and offered support as they are the future of the country.

“I would really appreciate being supported in my journey, especially from  other well experienced writers in the country like Tsitsi Dangarembga, Ignatius Mabasa among others,” Maronge said

The writer is currently working on another book that focuses on Pan Africanism.

“As Africans, I believe there is need for us to constantly remind ourselves of our values and worth, reminding each other of our unity and unique traits, hence the purpose of my current project,” Tadiwa said

He has also joined hands with other young writers in Tanzania and Kenya to hint out the theme in his next publication.
