Government departments should be answerable to Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs if the implementation of programmes under Zim Asset is to be smooth, Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial leadership has said.Presenting resolutions after the first provincial inter district meeting in Chinhoyi at the weekend, the province said Government departments in provinces enjoyed too much autonomy, which at times retarded service delivery.

“The various Government departments operating in the province are only answerable to their line ministries and structure at the expense of responding in time to requests made from the office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, who are on the ground to ensure programmes move smoothly,” said provincial executive vice chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi.

Guest of honour and Shamva North Member of the House of Assembly Cde Nicholas Goche, said the success of any Government programme was anchored on unity and peace.

Provincial chairman Cde Temba Mliswa, said because of the dislocation between Government departments and the office of the Minister of State, some inputs could not be accounted for.

He said information at hand showed that there was 82,5 tonnes of seed, 580 tonnes of compound D fertilizers and 180 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate that was deemed excess last season, while most farmers complained they did not get the inputs.
