FORMER Warriors and Dynamos FC goalkeeper Gift Muzadzi has appeared in court on allegations of planting seven mbanje plants in his garden.

Muzadzi was facing charges of contravening the Dangerous Drugs Act when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Yeukai Dzuda and was remanded on $50 000 bail.

The court heard that on May 29, police received a tip off that there was a house in Good Hope area of north-west Harare where mbanje was being cultivated .

Acting on the tip off, police officers went to Muzadzi’s house and in the garden found seven mbanje plants.

They interviewed Muzadzi’s wife, Mendy Mhene, who said that the plants belonged to her husband.

The officers then spoke to Muzadzi who admitted that the mbanje plants belonged to him.

The plants were between 0,86m to 1,8m high and the police officers uprooted them and took them away as exhibits.
