THE tribunal that presided over the hearing of suspended Chipinge Town Council secretary, Dr Susan Dube, has recommended her dismissal from work.

The tribunal, which was chaired by an independent arbitrator — Mr Abraham Kudzanai Maguchu — recommended Dr Dube’s dismissal citing gross incompetence in the discharge of her duties.

Chipinge Town Council chairperson, Councillor Lovemore Mkwapati, confirmed the development saying the dismissal was with effect from December 3, 2021.

“We received the verdict this week and it was presented to councillors and management during our special council meeting held today.

“We are now writing to the Local Government Board notifying them of the outcome of Dr Dube’s hearing and way forward,” he said.

Dr Dube was recently acquitted on two counts of abuse of office (awarding a residential stand to a student under the staff quota) and stealing PVC pipes worth US$369 from the local authority.

Chipinge resident magistrate, Mr Frankly Mkwananzi, presided over the case, while Dube was represented by Mr Langton Mhungu of Mhungu Legal Practitioners.
