THE Zimbabwe Music Awards has introduced a new online submission system for artists who are to submit their works for the awards which to be held in October this year. In an interview with this publication, ZIMA Founder and Chairman Joseph Nyadzayo said the move is meant to be in line with technology as well as to allow musicians to submit their entries from anywhere as long as they can have internet access.

“We have decided to introduce a new online submission system in an effort to embrace technology. The new system will allow musicians to register from wherever they are in the country or even if they are on tour anywhere in the world they are able to submit their entries,” he said.

He pointed out that besides advantages of the system technologically; the new system is transparent for artists.
“The system is firstly, very transparent. It allows us to keep track of every entry without any being lost,” he added.

He also highlighted that ZIMA has not totally abandoned the traditional way of submitting entries saying for those who do not have access to internet manual forms are available for them at the ZIMA offices.

ZIMA started in 2003 as an annual awards ceremony to acknowledge and honour musical excellence and creativity it also provided a high profile and multi faceted celebration of the rich cultural diversity of local music, but as a result of the economic challenges the country faced for the past years, the last awards last edition were held in 2007.

Despite the seven year break, organisers of the event have promised a razzmatazz event with the Recording Industry of South Africa which is behind the South Africa Music Awards promising to assist this year’s awards so that they become successful.
