A local film production company, Ocean Bird Productions, has partnered with Nigerian film company Loveheart Media Nig (Ltd) on a film that will see Nollywood actors and actresses taking part in a Zimbabwean-Nigerian movie series. Titled “Special Forces”, the movie will be shot in Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
In an interview the co-producer of the film Ganizani Phiri said the desire to put the Zimbabwean film industry on the map has led them to forge a friendship with the Nigerian film industry.
“Nigeria is one of the largest African countries that produce films and also it has people who love, appreciate and support film.
“Since we entered this partnership, Nigerians have been supporting the move and we are optimistic that the movie will make an impact,” he said.
He highlighted that they have opted for the Nigerian cast to shoot their scenes there while they shot other scenes in Zimbabwe then they will compile the finished product after.
“As a way of cutting costs we could not afford to fly all of the Zimbabwean cast to Nigeria but decided that we shoot in Nigeria at the same time that we will be shooting here and we will then send the footages to Nigeria.”
Ganizani added that since it is going to be a series, they are looking forward to have finished at least three episodes by August.
“If all goes well, we are looking forward to have finished at least three series by August this year and we are also looking forward to work with our national television ZBCTV when the three episodes are done,”he said.
He said names of the Nollywood actors and actresses to feature on the movie could not be released now for professional reasons but when everything is done they will be availed.
Nigeria boasts talented actors and actress that include Ini Edo Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Ini Edo, Monalisa Chinda and Uti Nwachukwu that have starred in various movies and made Nollyhood industry famous internationally.
