Upcoming artiste Tapiwa “Tazz” Machekano has released an album titled “4 Days Pagore” on which he pays tribute to women.

The six-track album is an Afro-Jazz sensation with songs such as “Malokazana”, “Mhosva”, “Musandivanzira”, “Kutsamwa Kunogutsa”, “Mathaka Makhelwane” and the title track.

Songs “4 Days Pagore”, “Malokazana”, “Mathaka Makelwane” and “Mhosva” focus on gender equality and violence against women.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Machekano talks about the importance of women and how he shows it in the album.

Tapiwa said women need to be loved because they are important in the society.

There is no love without women and we as Zimbabweans should use our energy by all means to campaign and make the whole of Zimbabwe realise how important women are in our society, he said.

In the song “Mhosva”, Tapiwa sings about a young lady who was disowned by family and parents because she got pregnant.

The song encourages families to tolerate their children when issues involving unwanted pregnancies get to extreme levels that put victims in danger.

“There is so much to celebrate about being an African woman yet some experiences make you happy and some make you sad.

“It’s a combination of confusing emotions which include the struggles, the injustices, the pull-her-down syndrome and the inherent problems that come with living in a patriarchal society,” he said

Tapiwa’s music is inspired by the things that he sees every day. He said the song “4 Days Pagore” is based on a true story.

“‘4 Days Pagore’ is a song which is derived from a true story where a woman I know complains of not seeing her husband often because he is always busy working abroad,” he said.

The album has been received well and he got good feedback when he went on interview on Star FM recently.
