There was rumour in Zim dancehall circles that Soul Jah Love had died last weekend. The false information filtered through as tension reaches fever pitch ahead of Saturday’s Sting 2014 at the City Sports Centre.

The much-anticipated Sting 2014 will see arch rivals battling on stage in what has been dubbed ‘tune-for-tune contest’.

In an interview yesterday Soul Jah Love whose real name is Soul Musaka debunked the death rumours saying he was busy with rehearsals.

“Well, I’ve heard about the rumour since the beginning of the week but what surprises me is that people always peddle lies and wish me dead. Fortunately or unfortunately, it is not them who decides but God. I’m alive and well,” he said with a chuckle.

The “Ndini Uya Uya” hitmaker said he was worried people do not speak good of him except the sad news of his rumoured death. “Hapanawo anomboti ah Soul Jah Love atenga limousine kana kuti ndege. Zvirikungonzi afa, afa. Rudzi rwangu harufe nyore nyore panotoitwa gala kunzi chifayi,” he said jokingly.

However, the Conquering Family boss promised to release a track within the next few days.

“I can feel it in my blood and when that happens I know my next release will be a banger. I’m getting into studio to record and my hands are itching to do this,” he said.

So far most of the artistes taking part at the Sting 2014 have fired warning shots to their rivals and it remains to be seen whether Chipaz Promotions, the event organisers, will be up to the task to maintain peace. Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions yesterday confirmed that the show will be nothing more than lyrical confrontation.

“Whatever happens at Sting remains on the stage. Security will be tight and only the two competing artistes will be allowed on stage.

“We have noted that all the artistes are working hard to improve on their acts and the show is not to be missed,” he said. He said there will be zero tolerance to violence as Sting 2014 will be held under the banner “Say No To Violence.”

There is also a host of other artistes who will settle scores at the Sting. Lady Squanda will go head-to-head with Lady B while Badman will square-off with Platinum Prince. Quonfuzed will battle Terminator, Jiggaz versus Ricky Fire and last but least Bounty Lisa will face off X Patriot. There is also battle of the sounds systems whereby Mighty Ducks will compete against Fyah Links while Black Spider will take on Red Fox Family.
