The Midlands State University (MSU) will have a second graduation ceremony for this year on Thursday next week for students who recently completed their studies. Last week, President Mugabe capped 2 358 students from the same university and those who graduated completed their studies in May this year. This was the institution’s 14th graduation ceremony.

A total of 3 050 students drawn from the faculties of Arts, Law, Education, Commerce, Natural Resources Management and Agriculture, Science and Technology and Social Sciences will be capped during the second ceremony.

This will bring the total number of those who would have graduated this year to 5 408. In a statement, MSU said the second graduation which had been slotted for December 21 will now be held on December 10. “Midlands State University wishes to advise its valued stakeholders and graduands that the second 2015 graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday the 10th of December 2015 at the main campus,” said the university.

“Please note that only those who sat for their final examinations in November 2015 will be graduating. “For more information, please contact the Information and Public Relations. “Alternatively students can log on to the website.”

MSU director of information and public relations Mirirai Mawere said: “We just got another slot for the Chancellor to have another ceremony to cater for our November 2015 class. This was a welcome development given that this graduating class was going to be capped together with the June 2016 class.”

MSU has since its inception churned out 27 321 graduates. The university, whose main campus is in Gweru, has also set up satellite campuses in Zvishavane, Mutare and Harare. The institution was recently allocated 82 000 hectares of land by Kwekwe City Council for its new Law School which will be built in the gold mining town. MSU is also in the process of setting up a medical school in Gweru.
