WORKERS in the meat industry have applied for registration of a trade union, Agro Production and Meat Processing Industry Workers Union of Zimbabwe, with the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare.

The trade union is meant to represent the interest of non-managerial employees in the meat industry.

In the Government Gazette of May 27, Registrar of Labour in the Ministry Nozipho Simango gave notice of the application for registration of trade union under Section 33 of Labour Act.

“It is hereby notified , in terms of section 33 of the Labour Act that an application has been received for the registration of Agro Production and Meat Processing Industry Workers Union of Zimbabwe to represent the interest of non-managerial employees employed in the Agriculture and Meat Processing Industries of Zimbabwe,” reads the gazette.

The gazette states that those who wanted to make any representations relating to the application should visit ministry office within 30 days of the publication of the notice.

“Any person who wishes to make any representations relating to the application is invited to lodge such representations with the Registrar of Labour at Compensation House, at the corner of Simon Vengai Muzenda Street and Central Avenue, Harare or post them to the Private bag 7707, Causeway Avenue within 30 days of the publication of this notice and to state whether or not he or she wishes to appear in support of such representations at any accreditation proceedings,” reads the gazette.
