The renaming of KG6 to Josiah Magama Tongogara was long overdue. This most welcome move by the President relates to Zimbabwe’s history, its defining national experiences like the liberation war, ideology, language, culture, indigenization and other discourses about the nation. This will further enhance our national identity – fostering a shared national vision/interest at a time when some political chameleons pursuing personal interests almost managed to bastardize Our Revolution. Aluta continua in authoring a new identity for post-colonial Zimbabwe in the New Era!!!

Do you feel the same about the renaming of Harare Airport Pedro?

      • Pedro

This business of naming (when using names of important individuals) seem to make a lot of sense when names of the departed are used. Using those of the living would appear like idolising. In Angola, former president Eduardo dos Santos denied an offer by gvt officials to name some institution/infrastructure after him when he was still the president.

        • succuba

Hypothetically, if there was a referendum to either keep the new name or revert back to Harare Airport, how wold you vote Pedro?

          • Pedro

Practically, I think it is better to leave it as it is today, RG International Airport.

I agree, recognizing heroes of Chimurenga this way & removing those other names was long overdue. I remember former Defence Minister Sekeramayi mentioned years back that this event was coming. A name that highlights the wartime contributions of the general populace would be great too – I suggest Mwanawevhu Barracks if there are any that remain unchanged.

Heŕaĺd can I make a humble suggestion/request. Would you kìndly stop water marking your photos. For some of us in the diaspora the herald is our source of news and we often cite your articles and in some cases use your photographs on various fora when we argue and debate all things Zimbabwean. Once you water mark them them are useless. We dknt use them for commercial gain but for our own use. Thanks

why so you can photo shop and add fake news herald you where on the ball good work

i am shocked that all these senior citizens of Zimbabwe would sit at a grand occassion like this which later turned into ant-climax when the Plaque was unveiled and it had a mother of boobs , WRONG SPELLING OF ZIMBABWE. Ladies and gentlemen lets not play games with the office of the President like this, and incidentally we warned ED to chose fresh brains ,now look at what these guys are doing to your reputation. At first there gave you more names of non-constituency Ministers to embarass you, yesterday Supa and gang pulled a shocker when internet was scrumbled country wide and now someone deliberately engraved an INCORRECT ZIMBABWE ON THE PLAQUE , could this be all by accident ,its these and more question which we will be asking in the next 100 days and there are more blunders to come were these are being manufactured.
