Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo has congratulated the two new Vice Presidents Cdes Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko for their elevation.

In a statement last night, Cde Khaya-Moyo wished the two VPs well as they took their new offices.

“These appointments are the prerogative of the President and I want to congratulate the two Vice Presidents for their appointments and I wish them well in the tasks ahead of them,” he said.

Cde Khaya-Moyo said his new portfolio – Economic Planning – was a challenging one, but he would come up with appropriate strategies in consultation with President Mugabe.

“As Minister of Economic Planning, I want to say, the ministry is a massive one with vast challenges.

“This is because whenever we talk about a country and its people, we will be talking about the economy.

“In this regard, I will give my thoughts and plans in consultation with the President on how we can move our economy forward.

“After all these consultations, I will then give you the details,” said Cde Khaya-Moyo.

Cdes Mnangagwa and Mphoko were sworn in as VPs together with several other ministers on Friday at State House.

Cde Mnangagwa was also given an extra responsibility to continue heading the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs while Cde Mphoko will be responsible for the Ministry of National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation.

Cdes Mnangagwa and Mphoko were also appointed first and second secretaries of Zanu-PF respectively.
