Hwange is places far from Harare and folks there are entertainment-starved as musicians rarely visit the place for shows. Makomo Music Fiesta has become one of the biggest events in Hwange that has attracted so many people.

This year on October 6 will be the seventh edition of the celebrations at Hwange Stadium. Alick Macheso, The Charambas, Winky D, Peter Moyo and Leaonard Zhakata are the headliners of this year’s music fiesta.

Eusabia Rayire of Eumo Promotions who is behind the music extravaganza said the gig was meant to celebrate with the community. She said the community has benefited a lot from the show.

“Usually when we do this event, transport operators, shop owners as well vendors from Hwange record highest sales on the night. This show is meant to give back to the community. We always bring them their favourite musicians of different genres,” she said. She said they have consulted the community before coming up with the star studied line-up.

“We have those with families and they will have their time on that day with the Charambas who are gospel musicians. Dancehall lovers are in for a treat as they have also their musician Winky D, and Zora musician Leonard Zhakata will also be at the event,” he said. Rayire said Peter Moyo is back by public demand as he delivered a well-polished act in the last edition of the musical concert. Charamba said the event was good for the Hwange community as they rarely get entertainers.

“This is a gig that is very encouraging for the community because they have time with musicians. Because of the distance several musicians might find it difficult to stage shows there. This event also brings musicians together,” he said. The musician who released his album “Abba Father” at the same time with Mai Charamba’s “Voice of Miriam” said it was an added advantage for the music lovers in Hwange as they will be performing songs from the albums on the day.

“We have developed a good relationship not only with the promoter but with the people there and that will be their added advantage,” he said. Macheso through his publicist Tich Makahamadze said they were taking their new songs there. “We have new songs that will be performed at the event. We have for years been united with the Hwange community and we are glad,” he said.
