Extra Kwazvose hits Club Red 32

EXTRA KWAZVOSEJonathan Mbiriyamveka Entertainment Reporter
Extra Kwazvose are expected to serenade their fans tonight at Club Red 32 in Southerton where they are building a firm fan base. The group made up of mostly former Orchestra Mberikwazvo members have proved to all and sundry that they were here to stay.
Fronted by the duo of Francis “Slomo” Dhaka and chanter Jonasi Kasamba, the group has won hearts of sungura music lovers not out of empathy but out of sheer love for raw talent.

Though the group faced many challenges ever since they broke away from Alick Macheso they have gained confidence of fans through their resilience and zeal for perfection.

Ably supported by Obert Gomba on drums and Noel Nyazanda, the groups’s first album “Ndizvo Zviripo” announced their entrance on the mainstream music scene.

Although some viewed the newcomers as a fluke others were of the opinion that the guys would give Macheso their former boss a good run for his money.

It goes without saying that since the death of Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo who hailed from Kwekwe there wasn’t any challenge to the Orchestra Mberikwazvo while the “Charakupa” singer was sleeping at the wheels as evidenced by his lukewarm  release . . . “Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure)”.

But that is not to say Extra Kwazvose’s effort was perfect, NO! Far from it in fact, they had their flaws production-wise but most people thought the group deserves a chance.
If you enjoy dance, then you will not be disappointment when Slomo takes charge of the choreography and vocals.

And one good thing is that Extra Kwazvose are working on their follow up album which should set the tone for what the future holds for the outfit.

But with  just one album up their sleeves and with shows almost every weekend , then it should be enough evidence that the group is holding its own. Make a date with Extra Kwazvose tonight and experience the sungura magic.
