She started with urban grooves, moved to Afro jazz and now she is going for Zim dancehall. Songbird Diana Samkange will feature on upcoming dancehall project “Harare Medley Riddim” and she says versatility moves her across genres.
The “Kumagumo erudo” hitmaker and five other dancehall ladies are featuring on Temptation “Tman” Chirenge’s new riddim that was done for ladies only.

The riddim will be released together with a video by the end of this week.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Diana said Zimdancehall is not her type of music but she appreciates the genre.

“It is true that I am featuring on Tman’s ‘Harare Medley Riddim’ but this does not mean I have abandoned my genre.

“Zim dancehall is the genre of the moment and, although it’s not my thing I really appreciate it.

“As a musician, I am versatile so I am just trying something new and that makes me the type of musician I am,” she said.

Diana started as an urban grooves musician with the group 2BG which made headlines in 2003 before she ventured into Afro jazz that she has been pursuing over the last couple of years.

Meanwhile, Tman said he came up with the ladies only riddim with the aim of promoting Zimdancehall female musicians whom he felt were not been treated fairly.

“I discovered that when a riddim is released, 85 men ride on it and there will be only one or two ladies.

“So I thought female musicians were not been given the chance hence I came up with the riddim for them.

“Other ladies on the riddim are Ninja Lipsy, Sweetness, Jeweller, Matie, Empress Shelly amonga host of others.

“We are working on the video for the medley and we are almost done.

The audio and the video will be out before end of this week,” he said.
