Sungura musician Peter Moyo will share the stage with Jazz outfit Too Open at Legends Bar in Marondera tomorrow. Young Igwe, as Peter is popularly known, managed to bring back his outfit Utakataka Express on its feet after a split setback and says the show will give him a chance to present the new-look outfit in Mashonaland East.

“Things are taking shape now as we are sharing stage with different artists which is a good experience for me,” he said.

He said he was happy with the response he was getting since the return of his band members.

“The response has been overwhelming since the coming back of these guys (who had deserted the group) and for this show we are expecting the best,” he said.

Young Igwe is able to hold his own, playing his own compositions and some of the hits by his late father, Tongai Moyo.

Owner of Legends Bar Daniel Masaiti said all was set for the show.

“Peter performed here once last year and the response was overwhelming and for this show everything is now in place and we are looking forward to a great event,” he said.

Last week the group performed in Harare and their shows were well attended.

Tonight Peter shares the stage with Jacob Moyana in Chitungwiza as well as performing with Franco “Slomo” Dhaka who will be launching his solo career at Extra Mile Leisure Sport on Sunday. Currently, Peter is working on a new DVD for his debut album “Maushonga Mukuru” that will feature songs such as “Mira Newako”,”Konzi”, “Pasirino” and “Tutsotso” and the other two from his late father Tongai, “Ndiro Yababa” and “Tsamba Ndakanyora”, which have proved popular.
