Ninja president, Wallas Chirimuko popularly known as Winky D is dominating the Zim Dancehall Awards 2013 nominees list released yesterday. The musician has been nominated in five categories of the awards that will be held at the College of Music on March 26.
He has been nominated in the Best Artiste 2013 (male) where he is competing with Freeman, Killer T and Sniper. Winky D’s song “Mafirakureva” will also be battling with songs from Soul Jah Love, Shinsoman, Guspy Warrior and Dadza D.

He has also been nominated in the Best Social Message and Best Video and Choreography categories.

Event co-ordinator Phinias Mushayi said the selection process was transparent as the fans and producers were the selectors.

“The committee is aware of the controversies that marred the previous awards and in this regard we have used the selection method which allows relevant stakeholders to be in the nomination process.

“Questionnaires were given to club and radio deejays, producers, arts reporters as well as special page on Facebook called ‘Zim Dancehall Awards 2013’ which called for input from fans and members of the public on their choices for the awards,” he said.
