West Properties chief operations officer Mrs Tatiana Aleshina Ellis has scooped the businesswoman of the year award at the Zimbabwe Business Awards which were held in Harare last week.

Her company also scooped the Company of the Year and Company of the Year (Property and Development) awards.

West Properties had such a great year after its chief executive Mr Ken Sharpe recently scooped the leader in Real Estate for 2021 (Platinum Award) at the Megafest National Awards.

Speaking after accepting the awards, Mrs Aleshina Ellis said being a businesswoman in the country was challenging.

“As women, we have many duties to perform. We are mothers and we are responsible for taking care of our families. The future is very important in every woman’s life because that’s the era when our children are going to live.

“Even though the work becomes very hard, we must keep pushing and never be discouraged,” she said.

Mrs Aleshina Ellis thanked the Zimbabwe Business Awards for granting her such an award.

Mr Sharpe was recently awarded the Forbes Best of Africa Award’s Innovative CEO of the Year Award to become the first Zimbabwean businessman to be conferred with such an award.

In her speech after receiving the award on Mr Sharpe’s behalf, his wife and business partner, Joanna, said West Properties was dedicating the award to its stakeholders, including customers, partners, employees, suppliers, regulators and all hardworking Zimbabweans who continued to challenge them to do better.

“As West Properties, we are committed to providing both luxurious and affordable housing units. All our unique projects are in areas of high access and opportunity, with proximity to amenities, “she said.

Mrs Sharpe said the company had gone out of its way to ensure that all projects were constructed with utmost regard to architectural excellence, world class construction quality and aesthetics combined with commitment to timely delivery and innovation.

“For the past 14 years, Mr Sharpe has revolutionised Zimbabwe’s real estate and property landscape in a big way. Through his company West Properties, he has acquired sizeable land banks across the country on which he is spearheading some of the country’s most eye-catching housing developments, especially in the northern side of the capital city, Harare,” she said.

West Property’s projects included Pomona City, the first Zimbabwean housing development to adopt an innovative leasehold concept.
