people to know is that I want to bring back the soul in music, musicians should sing from the heart and at least try to relate to people’s aspirations, hope and lives.
“My music represents the voice that’s not been heard and it’s a voice that comes out of every artiste because there is soul and passion.
“There are a lot of elements in my music, you feel there is a child to parent relationship, father to son and brother to sister. What this means is there are many people who want music that can give them a message as well as hope,” Ndlovu said.
She said music was not all about material things but much more important was the message or content.
“About 99 percent of the music that’s being played is not real music. Artistes are bragging about how much money they have and what sort of lifestyles they lead and yet there is nothing for people to learn from. Music should be felt and change someone’s life,” she said.
Ndlovu, who was born and bred in Bulawayo, has worked with numerous artistes including Hubby Dangerous, Recless, Tricky T and Dizzy Don.
At the moment, Ndlovu says she is putting together a band and her first album will be recorded live.
“I want people to know Sharon for who she is and not what I tell them. That way at least theu can understand where I come from and where I am going,” she said.
She did her secondary education at Evelyn Girls High and at 17 got a recording contract from Felix the Cat, the then Power FM Montrose Studios DJ.
She also worked with Ray Ramound who also produced Afrika Revenge before they moved to Harare.
Ndlovu has done vocals for the group Pax Afro, Jazz Invitation, Roki, Maskiri and Leonard Mapfumo, to mention just a few.
