Musicians, socialites and party lovers graced the opening of The Volt along Samora Machel Avenue last week.

The entertainment joint is located at the building that used to house The Book Café before it shut down.

After going through thorough renovations, the new place opened its doors to the public last Friday after following the official opening party on Thursday.

For some time, people have been complaining about the absence of a good outing place following the closure of various top nightspots around town.

The opening of The Volt came as relief to merrymakers and they thronged the place in large numbers last weekend to have a feel of the new joint.

Several DJs took turns to entertain fun lovers and most people that came for the first weekend at the joint endorsed the new look, which differentiates the venue from the previous The Book Café hangout.

The popular Game Recognise Game duo of DJ Ashstyles and DJ Nivek graced the official opening party while the likes of DJ Skwila, Candyman, Scatta and Flexx have also been on the turntables so far.

The inside has been designed to suit clubbing environment with lights and sound effects that are set to make it popular with “night riders”.

The outside garden still has a distinctive live show setting and proprietors of The Volt say the stage will be used by various musicians for live shows.

Venue overseer Spencer Madziya

of Platinum Entertainment said they will host musicians of various genres with the motive of bringing live

entertainment to their patrons in addition to giving the musicians platform to showcase their skills and expand fan bases.

“We have a combination of clubbing and live shows. There will be variety of entertainment programmes throughout the week and we intend to keep patrons of various music tastes entertained.

“It is an upmarket club that will also give musicians the opportunity to express themselves on stage. The DJs have already made their statement about the class of the venue over the last few days and I can safely say we are in the right direction,” said Madziya.

Madziya, through Platinum Entertainment, has hosted successful programmes at Beer Engine, Sphinx and Motor Action club.
