Never did I know that there would be a place that could transform a plain student into something beyond her imagination. But as I stepped on the freshly mown lawn at Wise Owl School, I knew my life would never be the same. With the schools mission, vision and values clearly denoted I knew it was the best place a student could ever be.Wise Owl High School has some of the most extraordinary teachers ever. They are dedicated to imparting knowledge to the future of the country. Furthermore, they have the pupils interests at heart. It has helped me build my academics to a point that I can say that “I am there!”.

Wise Owl has become a part of me to the extent that if my veins were to be cut I would bleed gold and brown blood (school colours).

My school always goes an “extra mile” to motivate all the students. It hosts dinners and luncheons for the top excellent performers in both sports and academics. This therefore encourages other students to work hard and receive the same honour.

I have lived to see Wise Owl School develop and grow. Our school makes it a point to discover talents and abilities of children and to bring them to light.

One of the many examples of such talented students is Andrew Mapa, who was seen shining in a rugby match and was given the opportunity to take part in the rugby national team trials. This, he says he owes to his coaches and confirms that it was their assistance that took him that far.

Our school also participates in music and cultural activities. Annually, a culture day is hosted. The school gives the children the opportunity to purse their dreams and freely venture into music and arts. A school mate Larry Rodi, has received various honours because of excelling in music.

This is due to the nurturing. I have no doubt that the next Chiwoniso Maraire will come from Wise Owl School.

There are many clubs at the school and all are very vibrant. The Interact Club has successfully hosted many events for charity fundraising and the Toastmasters have done many projects for the school.

The debate and public speaking clubs have set an excellent standard for the school because of the fantastic results they bring home after every competition.

I would not be the confident person I am right now if it were not for the debate and public speaking club and the support I got from the teachers.

One of the most cherished values of the school is spirituality in Christian activities. We have a wonderful school chaplain who delivers sermons every Sunday. He is also the head of the Scripture Union Club. The school encourages students to be in alignment with the good word of God.

Lastly, I would like to say that every rose has its thorns, and likewise our wonderful school also has its flaws. I have had my share of ups and downs but what keeps things going is the unity between parents, teachers and child and the courage they have to remove and see beyond the faults, for the good of us all.
