Teens donated groceries to Mai Caro Children’s Home

Children from Fearfully and Wonderfully Made last week donated groceries to their peers at Mai Caro Children’s home in Mabvuku.

After successfully hosting Miss Primary School the children saw it fit to donate groceries to their peers in Mabvuku. The group has teenagers who are developing different skills such as giving back to the community.

Taonashe Gurupira from Waterfalls School said it was good to have such initiatives that uphold our cultural values. “We have been taught how to keep our cultural values by giving to those who are vulnerable. This is a good initiative for us as young stars,” he said.

Others said they were encouraged by the initiative. Another student from Prospect School, Donald Mukucha, said they were encouraged to bring the little they could in assisting their peers.

“We have learnt a lot from the initiative and we are very encouraged. I have learnt that as youngsters we can also change the lives of our peers who have been adopted in children’s homes in the country,” he said.

Miss Primary, Makanaka Kambanje from Nettleton was happy to do her first charity project. “I have seen several models doing that and I am happy that I as Miss Primary has managed to do my first charity project. I want to thank Fearfully and Wonderfully Made for this initiatives. I hope to use this experience to further my career when I grow up,” she said.

She urged other teens to emulate such initiatives so that they can contribute to the development of the country’s future. “We are the future of this country and we should be responsible people,” he said.

The organisation founder Tungamirai Mpofu said it was good to engage children in such activities. “They need to know that giving back to the community is very health and encouraging,” he said.

Several radio personalities graced the event.
