Surfacing of Nhekairo-Chigondo road begins To date, $1,7 billion of the allocated $3,5 billion has been disbursed to road authorities including councils, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and the District Development Fund (DDF), among others.

The surfacing of the Nhekairo-Chigondo road in Wedza has started today, with the contractor expecting to complete about 3.7 km within six days.

Nhekairo-Chigondo Road rehabilitation falls under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme.

This year, Government targets to tar almost 16 km of this road, which links Mashonaland East and Manicaland Provinces.

The contractor, Bitumen World has been awarded the contract to tar the road, with its official Mr Collin Vanderlinden saying the road works are progressing well and are expecting to complete the tarring of at least 3.7 km in the next six days.
