VICE President Rtd General Dr Costantino Chiwenga who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care has called on the pharmaceutical industry and universities to invest more in research as a way of transforming the economy.

He was speaking at an exhibition of personal protective equipment used to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the Harare International Conference Centre by local manufacturers and State universities.

The exhibition was held under the theme, “Enhancing the availability of locally made PPEs through collaboration with State Universities and local manufacturers.”

VP Chiwenga said the exhibition is a clear testimony to the vast untapped potential which the nation has to produce its own goods and services
“We as Zimbabweans being number one in terms of education on the African continent and of course, being counted in the world as the most educated, why do we go out to shop things when we have the brains? Let’s develop that ability, lets develop that capability. That capability is what we must develop and built our country on,” said Dr Chiwenga.
