Multi-faceted group Sunshine Choir is set to make grand gesture next week when they mark their second anniversary through a concert that is slated for Kingston’s House in Harare’s central business district.

The choir features prominent names in music such as Pastor G, Pardon Mutsago, Petronella Sengwayo and rising Bulawayo singer ExMile. Mutsago, who is also the group’s director. said the performance will mark a new dawn in the choir’s history.

“This performance will exhibit what we have been up to all this time. It is our first big performance and will see us making a live recording,” said he said.

The artiste, who also founded Appointed gospel boy band years ago, said Sunshine City Choir was, however, not exclusive to gospel music. He said they took pride in celebrating artistic diversity in terms of craft, music, dance, poetry, acting and comedy. Because of that, the group’s performances are lively with all members having individual microphones to promote artistic expressions.

“We do not compete with other groups for style, attention or props. Instead, we nurture and encourage to grow. We share platforms for growth with other artistes and groups from Harare and beyond,” he said.

Speaking on the composition of the group, Mutsago said while they thrived to showcase Harare’s sundry talent, they had opened their doors to members from other cities.

“There has arisen a need to establish a central group that showcases that talent. The choir then seeks to headline the cultural and artistic capabilities to Harare citizens and also our sister cities in the country and around the world,” he said.

Meanwhile, rising gospel music singer Tatenda Mahachi will also grace the much anticipated live concert next week. So far, the group has listed a number of their goals and these include collaborations with other artistes, church performances, participation in the world choir games (2016) as well as local and regional dominance.
