Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu’s manager, Trevor Jakachira, was physically attacked by a fan who accused him of destroying the musician’s band. The incident took place a few minutes after the Sean Timba hit-maker’s show at the Book Cafe early Saturday morning. The disgruntled fan, only identified as Cephas, followed Jakachira to the venue’s car park after the show and threatened to beat him before pushing him to the ground.

Sulu’s security personnel had to restrain the furious fan who forcefully charged at Jakachira, blaming him for the band’s woes.
“You have destroyed our band.
“You are not a good manager.

“I want to deal with you,” fumed the fan.
In an interview with The Herald Entertainment yesterday, Jakachira said he had not taken any action against his attacker because he believed the fan was drunk.

“I work in the security sector and I would not have been attacked like that under normal circumstances. I just remained calm because I noticed he was drunk.

“Such things happen when people are intoxicated and I am used to dealing with such people because of the environment we work in.
“It is not a big issue,” said Jakachira.

He pleaded with this reporter not to publish negative stories about him, saying they were hindering some of his business interests.
Music critics have accused Jakachira of ruining Sulu’s band after he clashed with some promoters that accused him of lack of professionalism when the band failed to perform at shows that had been paid for.

Sulu launched the DVD of his album “Syllabus” at the show but the videos are still to go on the market.
The videos are supposed to be marketed and distributed by Jive Zimbabwe, who also organised the show.

Sam Mhlanga of Jive Zimbabwe said they are going through the final production processes of the DVD.
Some of the videos were screened during the show.
