Star Brite has come up with an initiative to help aspiring stars to establish and maintain clean images before they enter the celebrity sphere. In a statement, Star Brite stressed that there was need to foster a sense of social responsibility in upcoming stars who are supposed to be role models to the community.

This will be aided through an initiative that starts with a clean-up campaign scheduled to take place from March 24 to 29 along Harare’s First Street.

“It is imperative that our members appreciate that the way they present themselves has a direct correlation to how they are perceived. We therefore want to inculcate a sense of responsibility to the society, the individual as well as organisation,” Star Brite said.

Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Walter Mzembi, and his Environment, Water and Climate counterpart Saviour Kasukuwere as well as Harare Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni are expected to grace the event.

“Activities involve replanting of flowers, repainting and replacement of bins. Let’s keep our city clean, one street at a time. We look forward to making this an annual event, setting aside a whole week of citizen cleaning programme,” said organisers.

Star Brite said the campaign was appropriate as a way of raising awareness on the environment while reviving the Sunshine City.
Although the country has grown in many respects through economic empowerment, technology, and population, cleanliness and general maintenance is an area in which our streets are suffering the most.

Partners will be operating under safe working conditions, according to the organisers.

Negative publicity is a problem local celebrities increasingly contend with as they continue to make the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
