ZIMBABWE international midfielder, Silas Songani has extended his stay at Icelandic side Vestri by two years.

His stay with this club was due to end in the just ended campaign.

Vestri sneaked into the Premiership through play-offs after finishing fourth in the championship marathon.

Songani joined Vestri last season and recorded 10 goals.

In the just ended season, he netted five times and managed 11 assists to help end a 37 year wait for the club to play in the top-flight.  However, Songani is in for a long wait for his Premiership debut as the Icelandic top-flight takes a lengthy off-season break which stretches to four months due to ruthless snow condition.

The new league season is expected to get underway on March 15.

Songani told Zimpaper Sports that he was thrilled with the contract which was tabled by the club.  “I’m really feeling at home. I’m genuinely enjoying my time at this club and helping this team to get promoted was best feeling ever.

“This is something which we never expected because once you are not in control in the title race you tend to lose hope.

“But, when we secured a play-offs spot we started believing and everyone was confident that this was our moment.

“I’m really excited about my new contract, it shows that my effort is being noticed and I believe we can achieve greater things next season,” said Songani.
