Sello not in ‘Generations’ as a matter of principle

VETERAN actor Sello Maake ka- Ncube apparently sneezed at the carrot dangled in front of him by embattled soapie producer Mfundi Vundla.

KaNcube, who reportedly earns over R120 000 per month on e.tv’s “Scandal!”, has rejected Vundla’s offer to beef up the reconfigured “Generations”.

Vundla has embarked on a shopping spree to replace the 16 actors who have taken MMSV Productions to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, after their dismissal last month for downing tools over a pay dispute.

Sunday World can reveal that Vundla approached KaNcube and offered him a packet to rejoin the soapie.

But the actor, known as Archie Moroka during the formative years of “Generations”, rejected it.

This is because he apparently does not want to be seen as a sellout by South Africans who have heeded the call by Cosatu and ANC to boycott the soapie, after the producers refused to reinstate the axed actors.

KaNcube confirmed that he was approached by Vundla.

“I’m still with ‘Scandal!’. But it’s not the right time for me to be talking about this thing as they put me in an awkward position,” KaNcube said. -Sunday World.
