PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has arrived at Zimplats Mine in Mhondoro to officially launch a US$15 million Cattle Ranch project aimed at bolstering the national herd.

The President is accompanied by Vice President Dr General (Retired) Constantino Chiwenga,  Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube, Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister Dr Anxious Masuka and Mines and Minerals Development Minister Winston Chitando.

Other Government officials accompanying President Mnangagwa are Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement deputy ministers Vangelis Haritatos and Douglas Karoro, Local Government and Public Works Deputy Minister Marrian Chombo and Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services permanent secretary Nick Mangwana.

In attendance also are traditional chiefs, including Chief Ngezi, who heads Mashonaland West Chief’s Council.

President Mnangagwa has toured the cattle ranch project where he saw various cattle breeds for beef and dairy, including the Japanese Wangyu.

He officiated at the ground breaking ceremony of a dairy parlour to be set up near the ranch.

The cattle ranch project is a joint partnership between Zimplats Pvt Ltd and Palmline Holdings running under Palmline Investment Project.

The launch is being conducted under strict Covid-19 adherence, with only vaccinated people in attendance.

President Mnangagwa is expected to address the gathering later.
