Rapper TI flanked by P Square

Despite the buzz, anticipation and build up to the release of the three songs released by pop duo P Square on Friday, August 29, 2014, I was one of the few Nigerians that didn’t expect anything spectacular from the pop giants, partly because I’m not a fan of Dave Scott and TI, and then because I no longer expect anything fantastic from our so called “Big artistes”.
They have all grown lazy and simply dish out weak lyrics, poorly produced beats and expect us to simply hop on it because they are superstars.
Well, P-Square decided to prove me and other skeptics wrong this time around.

First, they released the titles of the songs a few days ago, and judging from the titles, you’ll realise that they mean business.
They clearly want to capture more of the local audience, otherwise how do you explain featuring TI on a song titled “Eje Ajo” (translated: Let’s dance)? . . .

By now, it’s a known fact that the late Michael Jackson had a great influence on P-Square, which explains why they decided to release these set of songs on August 29, Michael Jackson’s birthday (he would have been 56 years old).

“Eje Ajo” featuring American rapper TI is an up-tempo dance song. The video opens in a parking lot with Peter doing a couple of elementary dance routines with his dancers, then it moves on to a club scene with girls dancing.

TI then comes in to take the third verse.
Overall, it’s a good song that’ll pass, even though I expected more from TI . . .

This is a beautiful inspirational and motivational song with good lyrics. In this song, Dave Scott comes out strong, and in all fairness, P Square tried on this one, showing another side of their creative prowess.

The only problem with this kind of song is that the Nigerian audience tends not to appreciate it very much, as it’s the kind of song that may remind people of their problem.

As time and trends have taught us, the Nigerian audience would usually rather listen to an uptempo party song, while attempting to drown their sorrow.
“Shekini” Oya “Shekini ni ni ni”. This right here is the song. From the first second, it instantly inspires you to dance and forget your sorrows. You’ll definitely want to rock to this at clubs because it’s a hot beat, laced with friendly, relatable lyrics. And at this time, what could be better than a song that inspires you to do the “Shoki Dance”?

After all is said and done, P-Square surely mean business, and you can expect a fantastic sixth album from them in the coming weeks. – NET.
