Red carpet gowns are often the subject of last minute changes and alterations to make the perfect fit for celebrities during awards season.
So props to Oprah Winfrey, 60, for revealing the reality of dressing up for the 2014 BAFTAs at London’s Royal Opera House on Sunday night.

Oprah posted a hilarious video on her Instagram account admitting she was being ‘‘literally stitched’’ into her Stella McCartney gown.

She said: ‘‘It is an hour to go and this is Raj and Giuseppe who are literally stitching me into my gown . . . Hello Stella McCartney!’’

Oprah was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her role in Lee Daniel’s The Butler, but lost out to American Hustle star Jennifer Lawrence.

Although Oprah was left out of the Oscar race this year, she also received the name nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The former talk-show host was competing against Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts, newcomer Lupita Nyong’o and respected British actress Sally Hawkins for the award.

The Butler, which received one further nomination for Make Up and Hair is Oprah’s third film outing as an actress. Other roles include 1998’s Beloved and 1985’s The Colour Purple, which earned the former talk show host an Oscar nomination.

Talking about her nominations she told E! ‘‘For someone who was trying not to embarrass myself, it is amazing.

‘‘The best part is it is a jury of your peers,’’ said Oprah. ‘‘It’s people who do this for a living, don’t make me cry now! It’s people who do this for a living saying we’re going to give you a vote. We think what you did deserves this.’’

Oprah is one of the richest woman in the world, with a net worth totalling $2,9 billion.

Her empire includes the TV network OWN, two Oprah magazines (O and The Oprah Magazine) and the production company Harpo, just to name a few. — dailymail
