WITH yet another promising album to be launched at the Harare International Conference Centre on May 22, “Soja Rinosvika Kure” hit maker Jah Prayzah gave an account of himself at a gig held in Chegutu last Friday. The artiste who held the show at Maoni Bar attracted a fair crowd and performed to expectations of his fans.

He was supported by Andy Muridzo who took the stage at 8pm but was not popular with fans.

It was the man himself, Jah Prayzah, who made the night bright for his Chegutu fans.

Jah Prayzah and his band took to the stage around 11pm as he belted out popular tracks such as “Kure Kure”, “Gochi Gochi”, “Usachema”, “Sungano Yerudo” and “Chibvumirano” among plenty of such sing along songs as he got his grip on the people’s minds putting them in dancing mood.

Clad in a military uniform, while his team was in popular green soldier’s uniform, Prayzah heated the scene with his attic mbira playing accompanied by their trembling and rumbling dance routines which was well received by the crowd who appreciated every moment as the show went on.

He also introduced his new dance routines in the group as they danced to Jerusarema-Mbende style.

“On the 22nd of May we are going to unleash yet another album titled Jerusarema at the HICC and this has been a long journey for us as a band and touring different countries trying to be here has never been rosy,” said Jah Prayzah.

The show, which ended around 3.30am, proved how seasoned Jah Prayzah has become differentiating himself from most of the artists of his age.

“Jah Prayzah has improved quite a lot and he seems to be knowing what he and his team are doing considering the act he gave us today and I am sure that his next album will not disappoint and we are anxiously waiting for it to come out,” said one staunch supporter Tendai “Tindo” Tembo.

Another local entertainer in the area Tapiwa Marunga popularly known as Automatic appreciated the gig saying Jah Prayzah has now gripped his own legion of fans and with his systematic way of performing he surely will get hold of more supporters.

“He should now be able to arrange special dates especially month-ends and special holidays so that more people get to attend as he is much respected here as you have seen some people are coming from Chakari, Kadoma and some are from Murombedzi and this is proof that he is truly getting within the people through his music and live performances,” said the entertainer.
