Zimbabweans are set to see yet another special world class Chinese performance when the Chinese monks from the Shaolin temple in Henan Province perform for the first time in the country on the 4th of July at an event dubbed Night of Kung Fu at The Celebration Centre. The monks are known across the world as the masters of the Kung Fu discipline that take its name from their home base. Seeing their act is a special priviledge which many people in China itself never get achance to do.

The event which will be hosted by Ministry of culture of the People`s Republic of China Embassy in Zimbabw, the Zimbabwe Chinese Business Association and Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe a cultural exchange program which will showcase the riches of Chinese culture in martial arts.

Cultural and Educational officer for Embassy of the People`s Republic of China in the republic of Zimbabwe Dr Wu said that China is identified through Chinese Kung Fu and therefore attendees will get a taste that cultural exchange from the performances.

“We look at China through Chinese Kung Fu and also there are many fans in Zimbabwe and Africa at large,” Dr Wu said.

“This is also a good example of cultural exchange between Zimbabwe and China,” he added.

Dr Wu said that they have been planning for such a program for a long time and they are glad they have managed to bring it to Zimbabwe in the same line of enhancing cultural relations with the arts.

“We have been planning for such a program for a long time which is the first of its kind in the country,” he said.

Embassy for the people`s Republic of China has held a series of cultural exchange programs in the country including the “Night of Beijing” and “The night of Bale” which has made the Chinese events in the country gather momentum as they attract a lot of interest.

Dr Chuanhua said that Zimbabweans should brace for a Chinese exhibition which is in the pipeline as well as other cultural exchange programs to take place in the near future.

China is well known globally for it’s for martial arts and Zimbabwe has of late witnessed several of their acts either in films or arts presentations but not at the same level as what is expected of the Kung fu night.

The event that is scheduled for Monday evening will start at 7pm.
