A show mixing various arts genres and aptly titled “Mvengemvenge” takes place at City Sports Bar tonight. The gig brings together jazz, dancehall, sungura, rhumba, comedy and dance and some of the artistes on the line-up are Progress Chipfumo, Zakaria Zakaria, Jacob Moyana, Jabu G, Victor D, Apama, Madiz, Lady Storm, Terminator, Lady Banks, Mostaff, John Manyozo, Uncle Pig, and Best of All Musica.

The event is likely to be coloured with light moments since comedian Kapfupi will be the master of ceremonies.

Organisers of the show said they decided to bring artists from various genres to entertain fans of various music tastes in one venue.

“It is not often that we have many genres on one stage save for some galas. Small shows separate genres but we thought it would be nice to have musicians from diverse genres playing for the same audience,” said Ronny Bere who is organising the show.

“We invited Kapfupi to be the MC because we want the event to have a comedy feel after each act. Last time when the venue hosted my birthday bash, we brought Gringo as the MC and people really enjoyed the format. That is why we have decided to bring another comedian to lead proceedings. Kapfupi will not be performing with his band. He is just coming as a host.”

Chipfumo has performed at City Sports Bar on several occasions and he should be aware of the style that shakes the venue.

Madiz, who is taking his rhumba style to another level, should be coming to the venue with a mission to convince fans that he can stand his ground against any genre.

The Gweru-based musician hardly performs in Harare, tonight’s show should give him a chance to reach out to new fans.

Apama is a regular at the venue. He will combine music, dance and comedy as usual to make a good combination for the “mvengemvenge” theme. Best of All Musica brings typical rhumba grooves to the venue while Zakaria Zakaria and Jacob Moyana serve sungura lovers.
