Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs Minister Advocate Martin Dinha last week commissioned 40 solar streetlights in Mt Darwin and 10 at Dotito Growth Point in line with the 100-day targets set by President Mnangagwa.

Speaking at the commissioning of the streetlights that were erected by Super Choice and saw Pfura Rural District Council (PRDC) investing $68 000, Adv Dinha said the aim of providing streetlights was to ensure that there was good lighting to road users, security and safety to pedestrians.

“I am very grateful to be with you here today as I officially commission one of the first 100-day projects done by Pfura Rural District Council,” he said.

“As we are all aware, President Mnangagwa has set 100-day targets for all ministries and local authorities.

“PRDC has 40 solar lights installed here in Mt Darwin and 10 at Dotito Growth Point, with the aim of providing lighting to you the roads users and to improve security and safety to the road user during its first 100-days target.”

He said PRDC had set a precedence in the province in commissioning such a quick win project, adding that the commissioning of the solar street lights has spruced up Mt Darwin’s attainment of town status.

Adv Dinha said PRDC also has other projects that they accomplished in their 100-day targets such as the construction of waiting mothers’ shelter at Mt Darwin Hospital, grading of 50km of roads and repair of 50 boreholes in the district.
