A Midlands State University (MSU) History and International studies student, Tichaona Chidoni, was named overall best employee for 2017 by the Central Vehicle Registry where he is doing his industrial attachment.

He was honoured during an awards ceremony, which was held in Harare last week.

The event, which was funded by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, is held annually to recognise and reward hard working employees at the organisation in order to motivate to deliver excellent customer service.

In his acceptance speech Chidoni said winning the award was a humbling experience for him and would motive him to keep on working hard during his tenure at the organisation .

“I would like to thank my supervisor, workmates and everyone who helped me to achieve this feat and I think this award will inspire many students who are on work-related learning to work hard,” he said.

MSU’s executive dean in the faculty of Arts, Mr Terence Mashingaidze, applauded Chidoni for his achievement, saying the award was testimony of the quality of education provided by the university.

“As a faculty we are very proud of such accomplishments by students on work-related learning and this award is a testimony of the quality of our teaching and grooming of students at the institution.

“It is a seal of approval by prospective employers of the quality of our undergraduates,” he said on a post on the university’s website.
