Chibuku Road to Fame national finals set for Glamis Stadium on Saturday is set to bring various genres on one stage as contestant square up for the coveted first position prize. The event is expected to start at 11am and groups from the country’s 10 provinces will take part in the contest.

The event will be a mixed bag for the fans as the contestants persue different genres that include Sungura, Afro Jazz, Traditional as well as Rumba.

The participating groups include, Those Guys, Mark Sounds Band, African Roots, Makokoba Rumba Sounds, Grade 2D, Wezhira Band, Motto Super Sounds and Adequate Sounds.

Fans are going to have a taste of entertainment from these groups while they will be battling it out to walk away with this year’s championship.

The event which is organized by Delta Beverages and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe is meant to promote the development of musical and dance groups in various provinces.

Apart from the competing groups entertainment will also be coming from the music giants who include man of the moment Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso, First Farai, Attack Jazz Band, Shinsoman, Killer T, Winky D among others.

Attack Jazz band won the final last year after outclassing nine other contestants in the annual competition that has brought to fore various talented outfits over the past years.

Music fans like the event because they attend free of charge and see their icons in action in addition to the contesting groups.

Various top musicians have provided entertainment at the event and this year’s line-up of entertainers is likely to leave lasting impressions.

Organisers said the event will be more entertaining this year because they have many fun activities in store.

“The event is about competition and fun. While the contestants will be battling for cash prize, the fans will be waiting to see the big musicians on stage. Macheso has been one of the top entertainers over the years and we will have a mixture of genres since dancehall will be represented by Winky D, Shinsoman and Killer T. Jah Prayzah will put the icing on the cake because he is rated as the man of the moment and a lot is expected from him,” said the organisers in a statement.

The event has always seen artistes and some members of the public walking away with prizes and there is a lot of them to be won and these include cash, T-shirts, Caps among others.
