The Miss Curvy beauty contest slated for August 9 has been moved from Moth Camp to the Caribbea Bay Hotel in Kariba, organisers have said.
Mercy “Catwalk” Mushaninga, the event organiser, said the move was a result of a bigger crowd expected to attend.
“We have decided to move to a new venue because of the bigger audience we are expecting and this venue is able to accommodate them.
“Quite a number of them across the country have been making enquiries of transport and accommodation expenses and this will be holiday time as well,” she said.

The pageant that celebrates and recognises curvy African women will run under the theme “Supporting Domestic Tourism through Beauty Pageants”.
Mushaninga said preparations are at an advanced stage and 20 models will take part on the grand finale.

“We did photo shoot with models on Monday and the models will be in boot camp from August 4 to 8 where their activities will be recorded on camera for 18 hours daily,” she said.

Mushaninga said they are also going to have a send off party at Junction 24 on July 26.
Urban grooves musician Roki, Judgement Yard, BaShupi among others are billed to perform at bush braai pre-party a day before the grand finale.

Unlike other pageants that celebrate slenderness and pretty faces, Miss Curvy Zimbabwe seeks to celebrate and recognise the curvaceous African women.
Mushaninga launched the pageant after she realised that most curvy women shied away from modelling because of the perception that the profession was for tall and slender women.

According to her, any woman who has natural curves, physical beauty with “brains” and keeps a flat tummy is eligible to enter the pageant as they do not need to have a serious modelling background.
