President Mnangagwa’s call that “a country is built by its citizens”, has been embraced by businessman Mr Alex Mashamhanda, who is opening various businesses across the country to create jobs and improve infrastructure.

Mr Mashamhanda runs Mashwede Holdings and is now set to open a food court in Warren Park on Monday, a development hailed by residents as transformative.

A resident Mr Victor Bumba said: “Imagine one would drive or board a kombi just to buy two pieces of chicken and chips in town.

“Apart from the convenience, locals mostly the youths are being employed, contributing to the Government’s thrust of job creation. This is quite a noble initiative.”

Another resident, Mrs Rumbidzai Mawonde-Tande, said neighbouring suburbs like Westlea, Westwood and Kambuzuma would also benefit from the opening of the food court.

“This will also improve infrastructure in Warren Park,” she said.

Mr Mashamhanda said the opening of the food court will boost local employment.

“I am just a player in the industry and the main obligation is to just serve my country, leave a legacy through creating opportunities for youngsters. I want to play a part which can positively influence the next generation.”
