Rising Afro pop musician Norman Masamba last week launched his own music brand called “Samasamba Music”. The brand is set to introduce the musician as a solo artist.

In an interview with The Herald Review, Masamba said he was happy to have launched his musical brand and was optimistic that it would go a long way in marketing him on the Zimbabwean entertainment scene.

“Samasamba Music’ is an Afro pop type of music which I am fronting but it also comprises seven band members.

“The idea behind ‘Samasamba music’ is to let people know there is a musician by the name Norman Masamba and that my genre is Afro Pop,” he said.

Masamba is currently working on a second album to be released next year.

“I released my first album early this year titled ‘Zvebasa’”. Now I am working on my second album, an afro pop album again.

“The first album is doing well on the local market and we are very happy that people are responding to the music,” he said.

Masamba also doubles as Victor Kunonga’s lead guitarist and the young musician thanked Kunonga for assisting him.

He has been performing together with Kunonga as a solo act and their shows have been attracting huge crowds.

“Victor has been there for me and he assists me a lot. If we had more people like him, the industry would grow,” added Masamba.

Born in December 1987, Masamba did his primary and secondary education in Kwekwe. He joined Bob Nyabinde in 2006 as a drummer before coming to Harare, where he played as a session artiste.

Masamba has played for top musicians such as the late Chiwoniso Maraire, Dudu Manhenga, Alexio Kawara and Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, among others.
