United States-based Chimurenga music guru Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo has castigated MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai for his sexcapades with different women at the expense of addressing the problems affecting his supporters.Speaking on the sidelines of his show here on Sunday night, Mapfumo said Tsvangirai had failed to lead by example and erred in “concentrating on women” when he was supposed to stand with the people.

“Tsvangirai has exhibited a bad character. He has been involved with women when he was supposed to be with the people,” Mukanya said. “If you want to be a good leader, you have to stand with your   people.

“Even when things are hard, a good leader stands with his people, but he chose to involve himself with women.”

The musician was apparently referring to Tsvangirai’s multiple affairs with different women that include Locardia Karimatsenga and Elizabeth Macheka.
Mukanya said he does not support any political party, but likes leaders that stand with the people.

“I do not support political parties but I like leaders that are ‘men of the people’ and do not have individual ambitions. I do not want to be involved with politics because I know some politicians are not sincere,” Mukanya said.

The musician was on a tour of South Africa that saw him performing in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Musina.

Although his Musina show was not well-attended, the musician put up a good show and played most of his yesteryear classics and new songs.

His new song, “Music” off the upcoming album “Danger Zone” was popular with the few fans that braved the chilly and windy weather of the night to support the musician.
Mukanya shared the stage with Jah Prayzah throughout the tour and reports suggest the other two gigs before Musina were well-attended.

The Chimurenga musician reiterated his promise to come home in September this year.

He said his absence  from the local scene was a learning curve that has exposed him to international music trends.
