Macheso returns to New Life Alick Macheso

Entertainment Reporter
After a series of family problems sungura ace Alick Macheso is out to prove that his personal affairs do not affect his stage work when he performs at New Life Night Club in Budiriro tonight.

The musician’s manager, William Tsandukwa, said people should come to witness the show.

“Macheso is a man and he is not moved by anything. People should just come to see for themselves on Friday (tonight) at New Life,” he said.

He said the musician will also sample songs from his upcoming album that is expected at the end of this year.

“Though pirates have released some of our live recordings he will be sampling something different tonight,” he added.

Tsandukwa refuted claims that the musician was taking back his former band members Noel Nyazanda and Obert Gomba who joined him on stage in Chitungwiza last week.

“They were just passing by and as of now there are no plans to take them back because I have enough staff,” Tsandukwa said.

The musician is arguably one of the finest sungura musicians in the country. He has produced a number of hit songs including “Madhuve”, “Chengetai”, “Madhawu”, “Tafadzwa” and “Mundikumbuke,” among others.

The musician has remained steadfast at a time when sungura is facing stiff competition from dancehall music.

Owner of the venue Fidelis Ngove told The Herald Entertainment that he was looking forward to a great show with Macheso. “Macheso last performed here in September and our patrons have been requesting him and now is the time to come and witness the musician’s performance,” said Ngove.

He said they will always charge affordable prices for the show.

“The gate fee is on the posters and we don’t write ‘cover charge’ to avoid unnecessary hikes,” he said.

He added that a lot is expected as the musician will be performing without a supporting act. “He will come without a supporting act and I am sure people will enjoy the show,” he said.
