Luck runs out for rape, stock theft suspect

TWO Norton men, one of them a suspected rapist, believed to have been part of a syndicate that has been stealing cattle in and around the area have been arrested.

Isaac Makuyawo (31) and Collen Gobodza (21) were arrested last Friday for a stock theft case that occurred at Mutubva Estate in Norton.

Police had received information that the suspects were selling meat at Maridale suburb and they made a follow-up leading to the arrest of the suspects who were found packing meat in plastic bags.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests.

“Following their arrests, further investigations by the police led to the recovery of the carcass of the stolen beast at a bushy area adjacent to Highfields Farm.

“Isaac Makuyawo was further linked to a case of rape, attempted murder and two cases of stock theft which all occurred in Norton between May 2021 and September 2021,” he said.

Meanwhile, police in Guruve have arrested Jealous Gweshe (28) and Lytton Musengu (35) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred along Mazura Road.

The suspects attacked a 42-year-old man and stole an ATA motorcycle.

The stolen motorcycle was recovered and further investigations by the Police revealed that the suspects were wanted for escaping from Kachara Prison on June 5, 2021.
