Liquid Telecom has injected US$1.5 million towards sewer reticulation in Harare. The project will cover Glen Norah and Dzivaresekwa high-density suburbs. Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony, Liquid Telecom regional chief operations officer Mr Martin Mushambadope said the initiative was part of efforts by the company to eradicate cholera.
A cholera outbreak in Harare killed 54 people before it was contained.

“Today Liquid Telecom, which is part of Econet Global Group, is raising its shoulders to the bar and join the national efforts towards the gradual burial of the ugly head of cholera.”

Harare Mayor Councillor Herbert Gomba commended Liquid Telecom for the kind gesture.
“A friend during a storm is a friend indeed, such corporate social responsibility drive is commendable,” he said

“I would like to convey our heartfelt thanks as city council to the company and pray that they continue to assist us as we embark on a renewal exercise in all our water and sewer structural refurbishment as well as fighting cholera.”
