TOMORROW, the resort town of Kariba will reverberate to the sounds of Tuku Music when superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi invades Cutty Sark Hotel in what has been dubbed “Lakeside Party with Doctor Tuku and the Black Spirits”. Featuring Lynn Magodo aka Lady Storm, the show is set to be electric. Tuku, who is set to unleash his 63rd album any moment, has promised fireworks at the gig. The superstar arrives in Kariba today during which he is expected to visit an orphanage and a hospital before a dinner in his honour is hosted by the hotel tonight.

Cutty Sark management has also planned a game drive and boat cruise with Tuku, his band members and lucky fans.

Sam Mataure, Tuku’s manager, says the band cannot wait to serenade music lovers tomorrow night, who include tourists from nearby Zambia that have been lured by the star power of Mtukudzi.

“There have been many inquiries from Zambia, so people will be driving from Lusaka and other Zambian towns for the gig. Kariba itself is abuzz with this visit, tour operators are expecting brisk business.

“As a band there is no way we can fail our fans. The excitement is giving so much energy that we cannot wait to be on stage. Whoever attends this gig tomorrow is definitely in for a treat.

Meanwhile, Lady Storm also known as Eriza, from her role as star dancer on Jah Prayzah’s hit video of the same name is on cloud nine.

“I don’t even know how to explain the feeling right now because just the thought of sharing the stage with the legendary Tuku is overwhelming,” said Lady Storm.

Dubbed “lady of the moment”, the vivacious dancer and singer’s schedule is packed as promoters are scrambling for her services.

“It is a first for me in Kariba so I am just hopping that people will come in their numbers so as to witness first-hand Eriza’s magic.

This is a big opportunity for me to showcase my talent to a new audience and I don’t intend to disappoint,” she said.

Lady Storm has of late been sharing the stage with the country’s top acts in the music industry and she is yet to disappoint, with her crafty dance moves and catchy rumba music.

She is still a greenhorn in the music industry but signs are that she has a bright future ahead of her. The artiste had not done music on a professional level until last year when she decided to record an eight-track album “Ndisvikewo”, which was produced by Dr Tawanda.

“Many people think that I am a dancer who evolved to become a vocalist but that is not the case. I only started dancing in order to complement my music and I ended up discovering that I’m also good at it. I’m more of a musician than a dancer.”

With many critics sceptical about the artiste’s ability to keep the momentum on a high, Lady Storm has started adopting initiatives that will keep her relevant at the same time enhancing her career.

“Everything is currently flowing well at the moment but that is no reason for me to relax. I am currently in the studio working on a new project that will be released soon.

“Some of the songs on the project include collaborations with Roki and Andy Muridzo,” she said.

At the moment Lady Storm is still using backtracks but she has expressed the desire to start suing a live band. The 23-year-old is not yet married but is off the market since she is in a serious relationship.
