The official Zimbabwe Music Awards Celebration party for Jah Prayzah is on tonight at New Life nightclub in Budiriro. After scooping two accolades at the recently held ceremony, Jah Prayzah went on to stage shows last weekend without saying much about the Best Album and Best Traditional Music awards.

He has decided to celebrate the award in Budiriro, his hometown where he learnt to crawl in the music industry until he became his own man.

New Life nightclub harbours historic memories for Jah Prayzah. This is the club where he held most of his prime live performances as a supporting act for groups that came to perform there. It was his neighbourhood and the only place that hosted big musicians that time.

It was then known as Club Lashers and Jah Prayzah would take every opportunity to share the stage with the big names of the music industry then. The club became his home ground and it has remained his favourite hunting ground.

Besides celebrating ZIMA accoclades, tonight’s celebrations would be double-faced as the musician also announces the coming of his DVD album for his latest release “Kumbumura Mhute”. The DVD will be released next Monday.

The musician’s manageress Filda Muchabaiwa said the celebrations would be exciting.

“Budiriro is our home. This is where most of us met and this is where it all started. We have been together for many years and we are enjoying the fruits of hard work that began in Budiriro,” she said.

“When we return for the party on Friday (tonight), we will be like fishers coming home with a big catch. It will be an exciting celebration and we invite all our fans to come and enjoy with us at New Life.”

New Life nightclub director Fidelis Ngove said he is honoured to host the party.

“Jah Prayzah is a humble musician who has worked with us for a long time. We are happy that he has won the awards and we will congratulate and celebrate with him.

He does not forget where he came from and that is why he chose this venue for the celebrations. He has shared the stage with the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Suluman Chimbetu and Alick Macheso that have all performed here,” he said.

Ngove said they will continue hosting big shows at the venue and next week Macheso is expected to perform at the venue.

Meanwhile, Jah Prayzah will on Sunday stage a family fun day at Club Las Vegas located in Southerton.

The family gig will see Jah Prayzah serenade music lovers at the trendy joint which was formerly known as Octopus Club.

The joint was recently refurbished and now resembles a proper hangout for family and private functions offering the cool ambience for the discerning revellers.

The VIP area is for those who want to enjoy the music without being pushed or shoved.

But since music lovers seem not to have enough of Jah Prayzah, music will be the soul food and it will play on until sunrise.

Jah Prayzah is arguably the man-of the-moment. He also wrote his own piece of history at the 13th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards by winning a record four gongs including for Outstanding Male Musician, Outstanding Album (Tsviriyo), Outstanding Song (Tsviriyo) and the most coveted People’s Choice Award.

He has taken his brand to another level and he is one youngster to watch out for in the near future. He is the sort of musician who does not belong to a particular genre and it is difficult to pigeon-hole his music.

Jah Prayzah has collaborated the likes of Suluman, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Ammara Brown.

For those who love old skool music, the joint will be blazing it up with the likes of Dr Zobha and DJ Flabba on the decks from midday until late in the evening every weekend. The combination of Dr Zobha and Flabba is one to watch out for as the two mean business on the decks.
