Zanu PF Youth League’s House of Cheneso launched on Wednesday by President Mnangagwa at the party’s headquarters is aimed at promoting youths in the arts industry.

Acting Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tendai Chirau said House of Cheneso was the Youth League’s project selling branded clothes, shoes, caps, wallets, overalls and other accessories emblazoned with the revolutionary party’s name and symbols.

Addressing journalists yesterday, Cde Chirau said besides promoting youths in the arts sector, they were aiming at creating jobs with each shop employing 65 youths.

“This project was mooted after we realised as youths that regional political parties like the African National Congress (ANC) and Frelimo have merchandise shops where they sell regalia for their members and this is done as a way of fundraising and promoting youth projects,” he said.

“Most importantly, for the House of Cheneso project, we have made sure that we take some of the best designers to come and assist us and we envisage the setting up of these shops across the provinces.

“They will not be only selling party paraphernalia but also regalia that promotes Zimbabwe as a nation.

“We do believe that this promotes youths in the arts industry. This is not going to end here at Zanu PF headquarters but we are going to expand to all the provinces so that it reaches all the corners of the country.”

Cde Chirau said since the shop was launched on Wednesday, there had been a lot of interest and they could not cope with the demand for the merchandise, showing Zanu PF’s brand popularity.

“His Excellency, President ED Mnangagwa’s name is popular with the masses and the demand is so high that we are spreading the wings to all provinces and all the parts of the country,” he said.
