Gweru City Council (GCC) yesterday commissioned a new refuse truck, bringing to three the number of trucks it has commissioned in as many months.

The trucks are expected to improve service delivery.

The other two refuse collection trucks were commissioned three months ago.

The event also saw the commissioning of a new customer care hub and hand over of fire tunics to the fire department which were donated by Operation Florian from the United Kingdom.

Gweru City mayor, Councillor Josiah Makombe said that they added one more refuse truck on top of the two that were commissioned recently in order improve service delivery and keep Gweru clean.

“You will agree with me that for the City of Gweru to be clean there is need for the local authority to ensure that we have machinery to cater for that, hence with that in mind today we are commissioning a new refuse truck.

Turning to the customer care hub — Clr Makombe said it will be a point at which residents, clients and stakeholders engage the local authority on issues that need the local authority’s attention.
